Registration
Purpose
Meet the requirements of an endorsement as a Rating Forming Part of an Engineering (RFPEW). It is not necessary to hold the endorsement for RFPEW, but all training, sea service and/or assessments required for RFPEW must be completed before accruing the sea service for ASE.
While qualified as a RFPEW must provide evidence of a minimum of six months (vice the 12 months required without this training) sea service in the engine department.
Meet the standard of competence specified in Table A-III/5 of the STCW Code by completing the assessments in Enclosure (2) of NVIC 18-14 which will be demonstrated in this course with the exception of Task numbers 1.1A through 2.2A which are accomplished by completing the endorsement as Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch.
Course Content
1. Marine Engineering at the Support Level
2. Electrical, Electronic and Control Engineering at the Support Level
3. Maintenance and Repair at the Support Level
4. Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for Persons on Board at the Support Level
5. Contributing a safety to the engine room
6. Conduct tracking and overwatch of the guard in the engine room
7. Adaptation to fuel supply and oil transfer procedures
8. Applying bald and ballistic methods
9. Applying equipment and machinery
Safe use of electrical equipment
10. Assembling maintenance and repairs on board
11. Adoption of inventory management
12. Apply precautionary measures and contribute to the prevention of pollution of the marine environment.
13. Apply procedures for safety and protection at work
Certificate
Any applicant who has successfully completed your Able Seafarer-Engine (MARINS-842) course will satisfy: The standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.607(a)(4); STCW Code Section A-III/5 and Table A-III/5, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 18-14(Ch-3) all tasks. Applicants who have successfully completed your course need not present completed “Task Control Sheets” for these assessments in application for STCW certification. Applicants must provide evidence of a minimum of six months sea service while qualified as an RFPEW.

Evaluation
All participants have to complete a questionnaire in order to obtain the certificate.
Certification – Diploma
All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive certificate with five years validity in line with Offshore International Industries guidelines. This Training follows international standards of quality and meets the ISO 9001-2015 requirements.
